Disney Dreamlight Valley is bringing in more content from The Lion King with its next new update — Pride of the Valley

The April update was teased way back at the beginning of the year, and we got a brief sneak peek at it during the February 2023 Nintendo Direct, but now we know when it's coming, and what to expect from this year's second major update.

Let's climb Pride Rock and take a look at our new Pride Lands...

Everything we know about the Pride of the Valley update

When is the Pride of the Valley update in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

We'll be hanging out with Simba and Nala from 5th April, 2023.

Gameloft confirmed that the new patch will be dropping at 9am ET. Here's when you can head to the Pride Lands in your timezone:

  • PT: 06:00 5th April
  • BST: 14:00 5th April
  • CET: 15:00 5th April
  • JST: 23:00 5th April
  • AET: 00:00 6th April

Make sure to save your game to the cloud before you update the game.

The Star Path will be dropping an hour later, at 10am ET.

What is in the Pride of the Valley update in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Here's everything Gameloft has confirmed so far:

New characters

  • Simba (The Lion King)
  • Nala (The Lion King)

Simba and Nala follow Scar a few months later, but the hero and his lioness of The Lion King are almost here. The Lion King Realm is also coming to the game, though we don't know how to unlock it yet or how to get the two new lions to the Valley. We're sure they're connected, though.

New houses?

  • Pride Rock

Potentially a house, anyway. In the game's patch notes, you'll spot that you'll be able to "build your very own version of Pride Rock". Which sounds pretty exciting. But what does this mean? We're not exactly sure, yet. Perhaps it'll be similar to the cave in the rock...

Prince Eric's Boat house

New items are coming to the Premium Shop for a limited time, and one of the best is the addition of a new housing style.

Prince Eric — from The Little Mermaid — is getting a Boat house style for your decorating needs. We haven't quite seen what it looks like yet, but for those who love a nautical theme, we're sure you'll love it.

Easter Eggstravaganza

It's almost Easter, so of course Disney is hopping into the celebrations. From 8th April to 29th April, you'll be able to take part in the Eggstravaganza event. We suspect this will reward players with cosmetics, currency, and premium items, but we'll have to wait and see.

New Disney Parks Star Path

This one we've known for a while, but Gameloft gave us a bit of a sneak peek of the upcoming Disney Parks Star Path over the weekend, and if you've ever been to a Disney Park in real life, this is something to get excited about.

You'll be able to place your own rides down as part of this Star Path, and here are the ones we know are coming:

  • Pixar Pal-A-Round
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • Mad Tea Party

You can also spot a Ferris wheel right below with Mickey Mouse's lovely face adorned on it.

Aliens in the Valley

Aliens are coming back. Originally found in the Wanted: Aliens quest you'll need to get in touch with Buzz in order to track these creatures down.

Hovering!

Yep, you can now hover throughout the Valley for some speedy travel. No, it's not a hoverboard, it's just a... sparkly glide-thing. It looks like you're on a hoverboard though. Could we get hoverboards, Gameloft?

Improvements, item tweaks, and miscellaneous changes

We've got some idea of bug fixes thanks to the recent patch notes, which include problems with Eric, improved companion behaviour, and issues that prevented you from completing a handful of quests (you can see the full list of fixes over in our handy story)

But there are other improvements coming to the Valley — one of which was teased on April Fools' day of all things. Your animal companions will be getting new selfie poses for even more adorable photo ops. Here are the biggest tweaks and additions coming as part of the update:

  • Sitting down on any object you can will replenish your energy very slowly
  • Well-fed bonus has been increased
  • New selfie poses for animal companions
  • New interactive items for your animals
  • Dreamlight-infused animals
  • New bathroom equipment and mushroom-themed items at Scrooge McDuck's store

As always, you can check the Trello board for all ongoing updates and fixes.

What is the next update after Pride of the Valley?

We don't have any dates yet, but we do have a rough idea of what's coming thanks to Disney Dreamlight Valley's 2023 roadmap.

So it's a bit vaguer than with Pride of the Valley. We know that the next update will be looking at the pumpkin house in the Forgotten Lands, so does that mean it'll be Cinderella-themed? Or will we be seeing some Nightmare Before Christmas stuff? Likely the former, because we only had to wait two months for this update, and while we'd love to celebrate Halloween (or Christmas) over the summer, it might be a bit early.

One likely conclusion we've made, though, is that Vanellope Von Schweetz from Wreck-It Ralph will be revving it up, as "A princess races into the Valley" is on her way.

These are things we aren't sure about yet, but have been in past updates:

  • New Realm
  • New recipes
  • New ingredients
  • New furniture
  • New crafting recipes
  • New clothing
  • New fish
  • New furniture
